![]() This is followed up with a Darth Vader story where he tries to grasp the idea behind his duties and role as the Emepror's Fist. Again, a very well written story that shows an interesting, and cunning, side to Jabba. The third story was about Jabba the Hutt and his dealings with the Tusken Raiders. This is also a very good story and quite entertaining. Then we take a look at Boba Fett as he pursues a "difficult" (for others perhaps, Fett? Not really) bounty. It's a look inside what drives Tarkin as he seeks to mold the Death Star crew into his vision. The first story is about Grand Moff Tarkin and is superb. Really interesting stuff for a Star Wars fan. Each story ends with notes from the author about the character's development, creative ideas, and cool tidbits from the lore behind the making of the movies. For the most part, the quality of the stories and the artwork were quite good. It is a collection of short one-shots about the various villains of Star Wars. ![]() Some stories here, admittedly, feel more fleshed out than others – the “Jabba the Hutt” issue, for instance, feels especially on the light side – but on the whole, this is another solid addition in what has turned out to be a really fun maxi-series. Consisting of 4 one-shots, plus an additional Special issue that includes short stories for IG-88, Yoda, and the pairing of Biggs Darklighter and Jek Porkins, the stories in “Villains” – just like those in other collections like “Age of Republic,” “Age of Rebellion,” and the just-started “Age of Resistance” series - succeed specifically because they don’t try to reinvent the wheel or offer up grand, canon-changing revelations about their characters instead, they’re “quick dips,” giving us just enough of a taste to remind us why we love these particular evildoers (or love to hate them) as much as we do. And thankfully, the stories in “Star Wars: Age of Rebellion – Villains” – mostly – live up to their dark pedigree. That, ladies and gentleman, is one heckuva lineup of villains. Nothing beats the time setting of the original trilogy.ĭarth Vader. This might be a case of Disney ironing out the wrinkles because they have done it before or me enjoying it more because of the time setting of this collection. I liked this collection and it is a step up from previous collections that housed short stories. What sold me on these two was that it seemed like a wink to the audience of why these two characters have become insanely popular even though they were originally just minor characters. Jabba's story was the only one I did not like and I really liked Fett and IG-88's stories. As for the stories they are not truly relevant to the overall arc but are just instances in each character's lives. The artwork has not been bad in any collection that I have read. Once again, the artwork excels in this trilogy and that is one thing Disney has gotten right with its comics. I thought this collection was a step up from that collection. The characters in this collection are Grand Moff Tarkin, Boba Fett, Jabba, Darth Vader, and IG-88.ĭisney did a similar collection for the prequel trilogy. This is a collection of short stories of villains that appear during the original trilogy. ![]()
